Excellent place for a nice dinner! Gets crowded quick so get there early!!

Salmon sashimi was excellent. The salmon and miso butterfish were delicious. Service was excellent.

One of the best place for sushi and they have one best steak on island...price is reasonable and the food quality is good...i love the steak on how they prepare it....just steak on butter and onion and hot rice is awasome.....side is awesome too....

Tempura is sooo good!!! It's light, suuuuper super crunchy, and the sauce isn't heavy or too salty. I love getting the combination plates. I got the chicken katsu and mixed tempura.My mom also got the Chawanmushi (sorry, no pics!!! We ate it pretty quickly) The chawanmushi takes a while to make, but it's amazing comfort food. Tastes just like how grandma used to make it!

Service was slow but food was excellent

Food is great. This place usually has a wait time but we got on for lunch instantly. They have cooked Japanese’s food and sushi. I got the tempura mix. Everyone else got something cooked. Good food we ate everything.

Amazing food worth the price!

It's a Japanese restaurant in an outlet mall so how good can it be? REALLY GOOD. It has become our go-to Japanese restaurant and we're not that close. Might be considered a bit pricey but that's pretty much Japanese restaurants these days. Only problem is that it's popular so the wait for a table after 6pm can be substantial and I hate waiting for a table. Highly recommended if you go early in the evening on a week night.

For some reason I always crave coming here. They have good tempura (mixed) and good Chirashi. I think this is the best sushi place in the pearl city/waikele/Aiea area.

If you love Japanese food, you gotta check this place out. Its a small sized Japanese Rest. So theres a line. Especially on holidays. But its worth all your waiting. Try " The Boat. Its all your Japanese food favs on a miniature boat. Its Awesome!

Had side order 2 shrimp tempura w/veg. @ 10.95. Should add 3 shrimp w/veg. @10.95. Shrimp too skinny. Went to shinpachi hadTeishoku 5 shrimps no veg. 12.95.4;00 Male Server prob. had a long day. 5:30 Male server much more "fresh " friendlier.

The Best! Butterfish has a nice sear to it,. My son said it's better then what he has had in Japan.

Food and service were excellent.

I've been coming here since they opened and they've always been consistent on their offering. Spider and rainbows rolls are my favorite along with the misoyaki butterfish!

Went there last week, Chris is the best server I've ever had. I would go back just to see him. Food is great too!

Update:Quality has gone down a bit. Chicken is low grade and fatty. Gross when trying to eat it 👎Sushi didn't have any flavor to eat besides the lil shoyu.Food is good, I had Chicken Katsu/Teriyaki chicken combo. She had Tempura and Sushi Combo, really good! Also Two orders​ of Hamachi, like butterHost/busser (female, hair dyed blond) lacks social skills, no smile, little rude!

Mon-Thurs from 2-5pm they usually have a special. To bad that in order to get it the sushi bar has to be open. Past several visits there during the time frame sushi bar was closed.

Food is always of good quality and portions. Staff is always courteous and attentive. The only downside is that they don't take reservations so be ready to possibly wait a half hour or more when they're busy.

Food is always AWESOME so is the service. Its a must when i have visitors from out of town..... Boat is can you sink this boat serves 4.Nobody did it yet in my group...lol ...A big 10.

Quality food. Great service. Their butterfish is my favorite. I once visited three times in a week because I couldn't get enough. It gets very busy during dinner time, expect to wait 30+ minutes.

This place is amazing!! My husband treated me and the kids to an early Valentine dinner and it was worth every penny and more!! It was our very first time to Kunio and had heard so many wonderful things from friends that he decided to surprise us. We were fortunate enough to try their special "boat", which seemed a bit pricy at first, but once it arrived to the table we understood why! The presentation was beautiful but the food was even more amazing!! Every dish included on the boat...the fresh sushi, crisp and juicy tonkatsu, soft yet flavorful steak, crispy shrimp and vegetable tempura, and my favorite...perfectly steamed lobster tails with clarified butter were absolutely delicious!!! Even my 6 year old loved it!! There was not one morsel left and we rolled out feeling satisfied and content!!! It really was the best deal and a must try for everyone!! We will be back again!!!

Excellent service! And menu is extensive, too.They open at 10:30am (Which is quite early for lunch), but if you do not get there early be prepared to wait for a booth or table! But then again, it shows you how good their food is. Because they are a little short staffed, the food is a wait...and sometimes comes out one-by-one and not all together. Hard to enjoy a meal together, but we do love the food. Price is a tad high, but worth it... located in the corner of the lower part of shops. Parking easy to find, too..

Ribeye steak teishoku comes with seasoned butter or teriyaki sauce on a hot plate. Order rare to get medium rare or medium as the steak keeps cooking. Very popular place so we're used to waiting. Came late around 8:30 pm so found parking easily and seated in ten minutes. Order taken quickly and food delivered very hot. Those who want to watch sushi being made can sit at the sushi bar. We chose to wait for a booth. Good selection on the menu to suit all tastes.

Best Japanese food on the West/Central side. Walk in only though, no reservations. Whole party has to be there to be seated.

This place is very popular among the local crowd. Service tends to be rather attentive but the quality of the food definitely depends on the day of your visit. Be prepared to wait during peak lunch and dinner services. Sushi is mediocre but the teishoku sets are what everybody comes for. They do not take reservations so make sure you plan accordingly.

Love the pre meal sides of crab meat, kimpira, soy beans, miso soup and green salad with the combination meals. A good "taster" to get you started for a japanese meal. Both the Tonkatsu and chicken katsu you can't go wrong with. Crispy, tasty and not too oily. Misoyaki butterfish and grilled salmon are great too. Teriyaki chicken is good, although sometimes it is drenched in too much teriyaki sauce. Sushi is okay. The kids meal is huge! I think it is for 10 & under kids, but it can feed a high schooler easy!Our go to japanese restaurant in the Aiea/Waipahu/Pearl City/Mililani area.

Excellent service. Ordered the boat. Nice to have a taste of different foods on one big boat. Can be pricey. But worth it.
